Accountant Website Cost UK: What Should Your Firm Budget? (2026)

An accountant website at Storm costs £2,500 for up to five pages, £3,500 for 8–12 pages, or from £6,000 with connected systems. Here is what to compare.

An accountant website does not have one standard UK price. A subscription template, a custom practice website and a site connected to a client onboarding system are different purchases. At Storm Marketing Studio, our published website packages are £2,500 for Starter, £3,500 for Complete and from £6,000 for Site and systems. These are our prices, not a claimed UK market average.

For an accountancy firm, the useful question is what the website needs to do: reassure a referral, explain specialist services, attract local enquiries or connect those enquiries to your team. Decide that before comparing quotes. A smaller, well-planned site can be a better investment than a large collection of generic tax articles.

Accountant website pricing: three ways to scope the project

Storm packageBuild pricePublished scope
Starter£2,500Up to five pages
Complete£3,5008–12 pages, SEO foundations, enquiry and booking journeys, analytics handover
Site and systemsFrom £6,000Complete plus lead capture, follow-up, CRM and dashboard

Starter can suit a focused practice that mainly needs a clear introduction, a concise service overview, a team page and an easy way to enquire. Complete gives more room for separate services and client types. Site and systems is relevant when the enquiry process itself needs connecting, not simply when you want a more elaborate design. A secure client portal or accounting software integration must be scoped explicitly; neither should be assumed from a package name.

There are lower-priced alternatives. Double Entry Digital's accountant website pricing advertises a five-page build at £1,450. That is one supplier's advertised offer, checked for this guide in October 2026, not evidence that every five-page website is equivalent. Compare content, revisions, migration, ownership and recurring charges. Confirm VAT treatment with each supplier before comparing payable totals.

What changes the cost of an accountancy website?

Service structure and the clients you want

A sole practitioner offering bookkeeping and self-assessment may need less content than a firm covering payroll, VAT, statutory accounts and advisory work. Separate pages are useful when they answer genuinely different questions. Explain who each service helps, what the client supplies and how the relationship begins. Avoid creating dozens of near-identical pages just to increase the page count.

Writing and professional review

Ask whether the quote includes writing, editing supplied text or design only. Accountancy copy needs review by someone qualified at your firm, particularly when it discusses tax rules, deadlines or professional credentials. Agree who owns approval and future updates. Do not let a website supplier invent accreditations, savings claims or tax advice to fill a page.

Existing rankings and content migration

If your current site already attracts visitors, a replacement needs a migration plan. Keep useful URLs where possible, map permanent redirects for changed pages and preserve access to search reporting. The work involved depends on the existing site, not just the number of new pages. Include domain, email and hosting responsibilities in the proposal so changing the website does not interrupt client communication.

Enquiries, bookings and software connections

A short consultation enquiry is different from collecting client documents. Start with the minimum information needed to respond. Keep tax records, identification documents and sensitive financial details out of a general contact form. If you need a secure upload area, client login, CRM integration or appointment system, specify access controls, third-party charges and maintenance separately.

One-off build costs versus ongoing costs

Storm's care plan is £100 per month. Twelve months of care is £1,200, so a £2,500 Starter build plus twelve months of care totals £3,700, before any separately agreed extras. A £3,500 Complete build plus the same care totals £4,700. These arithmetic examples use our published package figures; they are not promises that every accounting project fits that scope.

  • Confirm what hosting, maintenance and content changes are included.
  • Check domain renewal, business email, booking tools and software licence charges.
  • Ask how additional pages, revisions and integrations are priced.
  • Check the cancellation process and what access or files you receive when leaving.

A monthly subscription can be sensible, but compare the total over the same period as an upfront build. Establish whether there is a setup charge, minimum term or exit fee. A low monthly headline is not enough information to make a buying decision.

Is SEO included in an accountant website build?

SEO foundations and an ongoing search programme are not the same thing. A build should agree page structure, useful titles, internal links and technical accessibility. Continued work might involve improving service content, reviewing search queries and maintaining a genuine local presence. Our UK SEO cost guide explains how to compare that separate budget, rather than assuming a website fee buys indefinite optimisation.

For a practice serving Winchester or elsewhere in Hampshire, describe your actual office, service area and client needs. Avoid copied town pages that imply offices you do not have. A local SEO service should begin by checking what already works and where relevant enquiries could come from, not by promising a particular ranking.

Questions to ask before accepting a quote

  • Which pages and client journeys are included, and who writes the content?
  • Who approves technical accountancy information before publication?
  • What happens to our existing URLs, email and search reporting at launch?
  • Can we update the site, and what happens if we change supplier?
  • What is the full first-year cost, including recurring charges and VAT where applicable?
  • What does success mean: suitable enquiries, booked consultations or better support for referrals?

Use your own commercial figures to judge value. Divide the agreed project cost by the contribution from a suitable new client over a defined period, allowing for delivery costs and retention uncertainty. This is a planning exercise, not a prediction that a new website will deliver a fixed number of clients.

Accountant website cost: common questions

Can a small accountancy practice use a template?

Yes. A maintained template can be appropriate when the services and enquiry journey are simple. Check that it supports your own content, mobile reading, clear contact details and useful page titles. Commission a custom build when the limitations are stopping you presenting the practice or handling enquiries properly.

Does an accountant need a client portal on the website?

Not necessarily. Your existing accounting platform may already provide one. A clear link to that service may be all the public site needs. Building a new portal introduces security, access and support responsibilities, so treat it as a separate requirement rather than a routine design feature.

Does Storm have a published accountant-specific package?

Our figures above are the published Storm website bands, applied as a starting point for an accountancy brief. The final scope needs agreement. You can inspect our website design work and ask for a free 24-hour audit before deciding whether a rebuild is necessary.
